Streptococcus parauberis

Streptococcus parauberis: Strep sector (streptococci) of a small purple colony, number 5; Staphylococcus aureus: sector Stap (staphylococci) medium-sized beige-pink colonies, number 4.

Streptococcus parauberis was named a separate species od bacteria in 1990 - it was originally Streptococcus uberis type II. In the photos we can see that it can be distinguished on the PM test according to the colour of the colonies, which is beneficial for farm diagnostics. The specified bacterial species can be further confirmed in the laboratory by MALDI-TOF identification and tested for antibiotic sensitivity, which is very important in the case of Streptococcus parauberis infection because there is a higher level of resistance and therefore the choice of antibiotic suitable for treatment is more difficult.
